Technomania at the Fubar
Scotland – Saturday 3rd September
Secreted away in central Scotland lies a small
pocket of that Rezerection vibe which until now
seemed unique. With a venue whose name stands up
for ‘Fucked up beyond all recognition’ and a
party crowd to match. Technomania at the Fubar
was a night to be reckoned with.
Time was irrelevant at this chaotic after world.
Surveying the techno army from the DJ
battlements, the story was the same at 10pm as
it was the following day at 7am except for the
bpm’s. They were raised from minor seizure
levels of 170bpm’s to a staggering 220bpm’s for
the last record, a dual effort by the twins.
Separated at birth, DJ Technotrance and Tony
Montgomery?
It was hard. It was hot. It was hell and they
were crying out for more. Technomania delivered
it all in a maze like venue with several chill
out areas. The plush downstairs house room,
complete with cushioned booths, beats any I’ve
chilled in but do check the super “freeze zone”
downstairs, and its mad graffiti style décor.
PA’s normally a let down, held their own. The
Time Frequency, famed for their bouncy Scottish
rave anthems, introduced their new vixen
vocalist and what a voice she had. While Bass
X’s blend of chaotic hardcore was matched by
their dancers. See to believe.
A state of frenzy was maintained upstairs by Tom
Wilson, Bass Generator, Marc Smith, Joe Deacon,
Crosby, Tony Montgomery and MC’s Bee and Madman.
The Fubar’s residents, DJ Technotrance and Mc
XXX well and truly put the icing on the cake.
XXX had his usual disciples screaming for more
when asked why he played Tinman at 45bpm’s
Technotrance said “It’s such a storming tune
that it had to be played but there’s no way it
would fit into the set at anything less”. Judge
for yourselves and watch out for Tony
Montgomery.
Any DJ who can get a masked boiler suited raver
complete with light sticks to dance to house
music deserves respect. These deserving DJ’s
were Jon Mancini, Crosby, Alan Henderson and
Ross Keddie. Back to
