PANDEMONIUM
Andromeda VII – New Years Eve Special
Pandemonium have been doing the business
since the early days of the rave scene and their
parties just keep getting better. Since the
opening of Club Andromeda in February, it has
gone from strength to strength, big crowds and a
wicked atmosphere every Friday, but this
promised to be the party of the year, setting
the standard for 1994. We were not disappointed.
Half an hour drive and we arrived at the venue,
the time was 10.30pm and we were greeted by a
small queue which could have been a bad sign,
but once inside the club we were proven wrong.
We made our way upstairs through the crowds of
people all heading for the main arena, one of
three rooms. As we entered the main arena we
were met by a booming sound system and a mad
laser display with some wicked backdrops, which
were hung from the balcony, going round the top
of the arena. The DJ box was also raised above
the stage where costumed dancers and the MC’s
were doing their stuff. After spending a short
time taking it all in, we ventured down the
stairs to the Dance Factory, obviously given its
name due to the concrete floor and walls, this
arena also had a small balcony around the top
where people were watching the crowded dance
floor below.
By this time it was approaching midnight, so we
made our way back upstairs to the main arena to
bring in the new year. The new year was counted
in by the totally mad MC Lenni, as midnight came
balloons rained down from the ceiling, everyone
was going crazy to the sounds of Ellis Dee who
played an appropriate tune, a re-mix of Auld
Lang Syne which got everyone jumping. By now the
whole place was so packed you could hardly
dance, everyone was happy, old and new ravers,
black and white, even the bar staff were jumping
up and down, no one was standing still, from the
hardcore horn blowing stomper to the more laid
back party goer.
Pick of the DJ’s for the night were the
uplifting Slipmatt and the man Jumping Jack
Frost who played a wicked set along with the MC
Bassman, who got the whole house rocking.
Respect DJ Shock C who also played a wicked set
in the Dance Factory, watch out for him in 1994.
After spending some time in the main arena, up
the next flight of stairs we went to the third
floor which accessed the balcony and the
celebration suite, where you can go chill-out to
the slower sounds of Jock Lee and guests, but as
we walked in everyone was far from chilling-out.
The whole dance floor dancing, not my cup of
tea, so we left for the main arena again, that’s
where it was all happening. As we walked back in
we found DJ Ratty mixing it up, the whole place
was alive to his Junglistic sounds. From then on
the night soon passed as we swapped from room to
room, there was even a room serving hot food and
drink, everything was sorted.
