Club Kinetic
Digital at Club Kinetic, Stoke-on-Trent &
Carl Cox The Birthday Bash
Well what can I say! What better excuse to have
a party than the celebration of England’s
grandmaster DJ, “The Living Legend” Carl Cox,
and where better a setting to celebrate the
occasion than the one and only Club Kinetic.
After all it is Carl’s favourite club.
I arrived in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, at around
9.30pm and the large car park opposite the club
was already rammed beyond belief. As I passed
through security into the building, I felt the
body heat of hundreds of people slam me in the
face and I knew that the place was already
rockin’. I went straight to the main room arena,
curious to check out the action and sure enough
the place was kickin’ in true Kinetic style. In
addition there were balloons and streamers to
complement the birthday atmosphere. The line up
on the night was second to none and chosen by
none other than the birthday man himself. The
spinners playing were DJ Brisk Kinetics very
own, followed by Frances No. 1 and Jean Michelle
Jarres favourite DJ Laurent Garnier. Next up was
the living don, Dave “The Messiah Of Techno”
Angel – Man I would marry this blokes music,
believe! Finally the main attraction of the
night gripped the wheels of steel, Mr Carl Cox
and myself on the mic. The place went crazy with
all the typical birthday razzmatazz taking
place, including the infamous birthday song
which everyone participated in, and I mean
everyone. Oh, and how can I forget the huge
bottle of champagne presented to Carl, the kind
of size that formula one racing drivers receive
when they win a race, and in true fashion of a
Granprix winner Carl showered the crowd with
champagne, and the Kinetic crew loved every
minute of it.
As well as being Carl Cox’s birthday bash, it
was also a digital night which is Kinetics once
a month techno night and a tip which Carl likes
to play on. Well I think a wicked night was had
by all who attended and a night that the great
man will reflect on for the rest of his days. I
must mention again the other DJ’s, Brisk who
kicked off the celebration slammed it with a
blend of techno and breakbeats. Laurent Garnier
who ripped it up with his wicked trancey style
and Dave Angel, well I can only say what MC GQ
says “T” for tremendous.
If you haven’t yet sampled the Club Kinetic
values, then get down there, you’re missing out.
Remember “We are Club Kinetic, and we are No.
1!”
